Part 1 - Allasdale

Making Through Walking : Creative Encounters with Your Surroundings

Led by Uist based artists, Tara Drummie and Calum MacKinnon Ferguson.

This workshop will take place over a period of walking on Allasdale machair, where participants will collect memories of place through observations, sketching, expressive mark making, writing, and actions.

Back to the Broch : Linking the personal with the archaeological

Led by local artist Sheena Beaton.

A writing session at Dùn Cuithir where participants will work from a series of prompts exploring memory, landscape, and personal history.

 - The workshops will take place outdoors and over rough terrain. 

 -  Durable footwear for walking and warm/waterproof clothes are recommended.

Part 2 - Gàradh a' Bhàgh a' Tuath

A collaborative artwork session with artists Tara Drummie, Calum MacKinnon Ferguson and Sheena Beaton.

Using techniques such as mark making, printmaking, and collage to produce individual and collaborative pieces of art and writing   

5pm - 6pm

Homemade Soups, refreshments, home baking  

6pm - 7pm

Traditional uses of plants in the Highlands and Islands

Talk by Professor Margaret Bennett

7pm - 8pm

Music from Joanie & Michael Garvin and other local musicians

 

8pm 

Fire Scupture Lighting accompanied by Barra & Vatersay Pipers
