Oh, Lord we fear you so we come,
we would not come if we did not think you had power to save.
Forgive our idols that have left us dry, parched and hungry.
Forgive our hearts that have left us turning this way and that,
looking for a god that can neither hear, see, or act.
We’re tired and the morning tells us of our failings.
We cannot make the sun rise or the night pass.
We cannot make hearts soft, minds sharp, or hands still.
Lord, we confess our smallness and we are content.
You surround your people and we are content.
You offer your hands to the broken and we are content.
You invite us to your table and we are content.
Lord, in all our strivings this day, let us remember we are full.
Let us remember that we cannot add to your provision.
Let us remember that your bread and cup do not leave us wanting.
Remembering God forgive us as we forget today.
